It was a warm day to say the least. but ended our run with a light rain coming down. The city under the bridges is nice at times. You see the rain and times you feel the wind its nice and if we wern't doing this ministry we'd never see or feel that. Ive been 2 days walk into the bush and seen things of rain, animals, nature that i would never have seen had i not ventured out. It was a blessing. Same feelings.
It was a good run, folks was happy and talkative. Gave out a big bible and some uWo workers was teaching him out of it. Heard a story he was told about Jesus took money out of the funds, got drunk and woke up mad and had to make wine to cover it up and he didnt believe the pastor so he wanted to look it up for himself..good job. As outlandish as that stor sounds to us he had the gumption to look it up and seek the truth for himself. Bu ti know folks who will sit in church and hears heresey all day and not question.
Its simple under theses bridges, Life... Stay warm, full, dry and live. They are not distracted by TV or internet or cars. i have had VERY deep talks" round the fire" with folks before. They maybe homeless but do have some wisdom to give and regrets to voice.
Ive got to see the volunteers grow so much in thier talking and helping out. Yea not everbody can hand stuff out, thats the first step but to enguage people and actually care and check thier status each time out. Two volunteers gathered tents and took them back out on a wednesday becasue they got asked for new . Good job. People come outta they shells and grow..
It feels good to hand out supplies and food to those who really need it. I appreciate the donations we get, I just wish there was a way i could show and let those who give experence this feeling. Some folks dont have time and some are scared too. Its just nice, i tell you. They are some Homiez that wait under the main bridge for us each sunday they want to pray and talk and be treated like humans i rekon. Im very thankful that i saw my ministry "door" open. So many folks pray for thier "door" and dont see it when it opens.
I was told last week that Jerry beat up Michelle and he went to jail for it. But we got told by village mates of thiers that she always attacks him, hurting him and he has to control her. Two sides man, two sides.
We pray for these folks to see the light and move twoard it and to either start thier walk or pick it up where they left off.
