Had a good time. Ground was dry (which means alot) but anxiety was over the impending storm on the horizon. So Homies were butting up in preparation for it. Met some new folks and passer throos, it was over all a good day with no trouble.
It gave us a chance to actually talk with folks since they were "home" in camp. we learned alot aboutthe fears and concerns of life on the street.
Basics like... water is always prevalent and safty from camp raids, but the murder on the creek last week still loomed over them.
It really is a different world down there. You can get lost in the simplicity and carnality of it. Its a dougle edge sword.
When asked WHY some folks are here (or there) its a mix of Drug addictions, Kicked out and Adapted, Lost job/Lost home, Runaway, Warrents, not wanting society responsibility or having no where else to turn.
So not everyone is a drunk or druggie, not everyone is a theif. Just normal people in a bad situation.
Nonetheless, we at the uWo serve them all each week with a few supplies to make life on the creek a little easier.
